Twitter says it will pay verified users for featuring ads in replies

If you're a verified content creator or influencer on Twitter, there's exciting news for you. Twitter is preparing to launch a program that will reward verified users for featuring ads in their replies.

Twitter owner Elon Musk announced in a tweet Saturday that only verified users will be eligible to receive ads, underscoring the importance of verification for content creators to participate in this program.

Since Musk's acquisition of Twitter, the company has been exploring various ways to generate revenue. One such attempt was the introduction of the Twitter Blue subscription service in November last year. However, the service has faced challenges in retaining subscribers. As of May, data revealed that over 80,000, or 54.5%, of the initial 150,000 subscribers had cancelled their $8 per month ($11 on mobile) subscriptions.

This new program of sharing advertising revenue not only provides content creators and influencers with fresh opportunities for monetization but also aims to address Twitter Blue's subscriber and advertiser attrition concerns, reflecting Musk's strategy.

Elon Musk has previously highlighted the untapped potential of Twitter's advertising revenue. In April, he mentioned that the platform generates approximately 5 to 6 cents per hour of user attention, expressing optimism that this figure could significantly increase to 15 cents or more by delivering more relevant and timely advertisements.
