Uber launches flight bookings in the UK
Uber is venturing into the flight bookings sector – largely being dominated by platforms like Expedia, Kayak, Lastminute.com, and Skyscanner – as it builds on its existing services that include train and coach ticket bookings in the UK.
The ride-hailing giant launched international and domestic flight bookings on its UK app in partnership with travel booking company Hopper, with plans to further expand in the coming weeks.
While this is not Uber's first foray into the aviation industry, it represents a fresh approach. In 2019, the company introduced Uber Copter, offering $200 helicopter rides between Manhattan and JFK Airport.
However, due to the global pandemic and ensuing travel restrictions, the service was discontinued in 2020.
