UK's Ministry of Defence database has been hacked
A major cyberattack which targeted the UK’s Ministry of Defence on Tuesday has been reported by multiple news sources, including Telegraph and Sky News.
The breach is reported to have been on a third-party payroll system which revealed the details of tens of thousands of British armed forces and veterans.
The reports allegedly accuse China of the cyberattacks, citing two or three attempts at hacking the employees of the Ministry of Defence. Although investigations have not so far shown any data has been taken, the Ministry of Defence is said to be working over the last three days to understand the impact of the breach.
Previously, Chinese “state-affiliated actors” were accused by the UK government for two major cyberattack campaigns in the country between 2021 and 2022.
This is a developing story.
