December is here, and with it comes the gift we’ve all been waiting for—Spotify Wrapped. While it arrived a little later than Apple Music and YouTube’s recaps, let’s be honest, Spotify’s Wrapped remains the one we(I) care about most.

Now in its fourth edition, Wrapped is more than just stats; it’s become a cultural ritual where Spotify’s algorithms reveal the story of your year in music, from your anthems to those guilty pleasures you thought no one noticed.

But Wrapped isn’t just about you, though. Beyond the fun of seeing your top songs, it’s also a big shout-out to the artists and creators who made 2024 an unforgettable sonic experience for you.

In this article, we'll spotlight artists from Nigerians, a country whose music scene has once again proven to be a global force.

According to Spotify, for the fourth year in a row, Nigerian artists have dominated the nation’s Top 10 Most-Streamed list. Interestingly, there was a whopping 146% increase in local music consumption.

Leading the charge is Asake – Mr Money, the most-streamed artist in Sub-Saharan Africa, captivating listeners in Nigeria, Gambia, and Benin across all age groups. Burna Boy, Shallipopi, and Seyi Vibez also secured top spots, showing the country’s talent knows no bounds.

Rising stars made waves too, with Ayo Maff’s "Dealer" and Muyeez’s "Instagram" breaking into the most-streamed tracks list.

Young Jonn’s hits "Aquafina" and "Stronger" showcased his consistency, while Burna Boy’s "Higher" cemented his legendary status. This blend of emerging talent and seasoned icons continues to propel Nigerian music forward, resonating both locally and globally.

As Spotify’s Phiona Okumu puts it, “The seamless blend of generations and genres showcases the unique power of Nigerian music.”

The album charts brought their own surprises. Young Jonn’s "Jiggy Forever" emerged as the most-streamed album, followed by Asake’s "Lungu Boy" and Odumodu’s "Eziokwu." Rema’s "HEIS" and Asake’s "Work of Art" also secured strong placements, proving Nigerian music’s dynamism and depth.

Apple Music and Amazon Music have ‘unwrapped’ their Spotify Wrapped clone — and its dope
While Spotify users are awaiting their 2024 Wrapped, Apple Music and Amazon Music users can now check out their listening habits during the year.

Globally, Burna Boy – the African Giant, continues to be Nigeria’s most-exported artist, the only Nigerian to crack the UK’s Top 100. Meanwhile, Ayra Starr shined as the most-streamed Nigerian female artist across Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya. She’s also a hit in Latin America and Europe, breaking records on Spotify’s global charts while sharing stages with Coldplay and Chris Brown.

Music isn’t the only thing Nigerians are vibing to. Podcasts are booming, with Apostle Femi Lazarus leading the charge. Motivational and spiritual content like The Success Addicted Podcast and Apostle Joshua Selman’s offerings are topping the charts, alongside fan-favourite shows like The Honest Bunch Podcast.

2024 was undeniably a banner year for Nigerian music and Spotify users. With Wrapped in hand, it’s time to celebrate the beats, voices, and stories that defined the year. So, if you haven’t already, grab your phone and open Spotify, what’s your Wrapped saying about you?
