U.S. plans to ban Huawei and ZTE equipment sales in the country citing security concerns

The Federal Communications Commission plans to ban all sales of new Huawei and ZTE telecommunications devices and video surveillance equipment in the U.S., due to national security concerns, according to Axios, citing sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

The move is in response to warnings from security experts and intelligence agencies that the Chinese government could use Chinese-made telecommunications equipment to spy on Americans.

While these companies can continue to sell products that the FCC had previously approved, any new models or equipment that would require a new FCC approval would be banned.
