U.S. to Blacklist Chip Companies Linked to Huawei

The US administration, led by Joe Biden, is currently planning to blacklist a number of Chinese semiconductor companies that are linked to Huawei Technologies, which generated $43.2 billion in revenue in the first half of 2023.

The plan comes after Huawei developed an advanced smartphone processor last year that many in Washington thought exceeded expectations. The list of Chinese chip companies to be blacklisted includes Qingdao Si’En, SwaySure, PST, and China’s leading chip maker, ChangXin Memory Technologies.

According to a US spokesperson, other Chinese companies such as Shenzhen Pengjin High-Tech and SiCarrier could also join the US Entity list, as the country believes they are acting as proxies to help Huawei obtain restricted equipment.
