WhatsApp Adds New Features to Status for More Expressiveness

WhatsApp, the Meta-owned popular messaging platform, has announced the addition of a set of new features to the Status section, making it easier for users to share ephemeral updates with friends and close contacts.

The new features include a Private Audience Selector, Voice Status, Status Reactions, Status Profile Rings, and Link Previews.

The Private Audience Selector provides the users with the flexibility to update their privacy settings per status, allowing them to choose who views their status each time they update it. The Voice Status allows the users to record and share voice messages for up to 30 seconds, perfect for sending more personal updates.

Status Reactions, the #1 feature users wanted following the launch of Reactions last year, provides a quick and easy way to respond to status updates. The Status Profile Rings around the contact's profile picture will make sure you never miss a status from a loved one. Lastly, the Link Previews on Status make it easier for the users to share links, automatically providing a visual preview of the link content.

In a blog post, WhatsApp said the new features have started rolling out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
