WhatsApp will now let you peek behind the curtain of the status updates of your contacts without needing to click on every single update.

This recent update spotted in WhatsApp's latest Android beta (version 2.24.14.2) introduces a revamped status preview feature, making your scrolling more intuitive.

A couple of weeks ago, WhatsApp introduced a redesigned interface for the status updates tray, allowing users to preview statuses in square frames rather than small circular shapes. This was a step-up improvement from when users previously had to click on each update to view its content.

However, the company has again changed this look with the newest beta version. As of now, users will be able to see the status via the thumbnail present on the right side of the screen. This current status updates preview eliminates the confusion caused by the previous status updates preview, allowing users to quickly recognize contacts and their updates, and letting them know whether to delve deeper or move on to the next update.

For users who follow channels, the status update tray maintains a horizontal layout, ensuring the updates tab remains uncluttered. Users who do not follow any channels will see their status updates in a vertical list, now enhanced with redesigned thumbnails that include both the status preview and the profile photo.

This update ensures all users can efficiently and visually browse status updates, regardless of whether they follow channels. It appears WhatsApp is responding to user feedback by allowing previews without replacing the profile photo, enhancing usability for everyone.

The redesigned preview feature for status updates is currently available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. It will be gradually rolled out to its over 2 billion users over the coming days.

WhatsApp users can now set HD quality as default for photos and videos
The new HD default feature is available to both Android and iOS users.
