WhatsApp Introduces Chat Lock Feature for Added Security of Your Chats
WhatsApp will now let you secure select conversations in your inbox behind a passcode, fingerprint, or Face ID authentication.
Conveniently dubbed the Chat Lock, the feature will allow you more control over the privacy of your conversations. You will be able to lock specific chats behind a password or use your fingerprint or Face ID to unlock them. It's like having your own secret vault for your chats.
In a blog post announcing the feature on Monday, parent company Meta explained that once you lock a chat, it gets moved to this protected folder, away from the regular chat list. It's completely hidden, and even the contents of the chat won't be shown in notifications. Plus, any media shared in locked chats won't be automatically saved to your phone's photo library. Talk about keeping things private!
Meta noted that the feature will be coming to the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS on the App Store and will be rolling out to all users on both iPhone and Android in the coming days.
While this new feature presents numerous use cases for WhatsApp users, one out of all just keeps lingering on the mind, but I'll keep that to myself for now.
