WhatsApp may shut down in India over chat encryption
India's push to gain access to encrypted messages on WhatsApp might be hinting at bigger national security concerns.

This clash arises from Indian government directives of the Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules 2021, which mandate message tracing, a policy that contradicts WhatsApp's user privacy rights.
Represented by Tejas Karia, they delivered an ultimatum to the Delhi High Court amidst ongoing legal skirmishes to cease operations if continuously compelled to compromise on user privacy.
Boasting over 400 million users in India alone, WhatsApp has emphasized that breaking the encryption would shatter the very foundation of trust users have placed in their platform.
