WhatsApp users are in for some good news as WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that lets them set HD Quality as the default mode when sharing photos and videos.

This feature now finally resolves the complaints that WhatsApp users often make about the platform reducing the quality of sent photos. It also relieves the stress of constantly choosing the HD option when sending an image to someone. A feature WhatsApp rolled out to the public last year.

WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that will let users send photos in HD
For a long time, WhatsApp has had a bad reputation for turning picture-perfect dinner date snapshots into less-than-stellar captures, a frustrating experience for users who have longed for the day they can share high-definition (HD) images with their nearest and dearest. This default option for sending high-resolution media on WhatsApp is available to Android and iOS users and can be found under the Storage and Data menu in WhatsApp's settings.

The HD quality option is also a big step away from the standard quality option, which often reduces photos taken with an iPhone to 960×1280 pixels, as it now keeps the photo's original resolution of 3024×4032 pixels.

The HD quality default feature also applies to videos. Once you set it to default, WhatsApp will only send videos in 720p resolution rather than 480p. This may be much lower than 1080p or 4K, but it is still a significant upgrade from the SD quality it had previously.

WhatsApp has confirmed that the HD default feature is available to almost 2.8 billion users globally per data from Statista once they update their WhatsApp application to the latest version from the Google Play Store or the App Store.

On a separate note, WhatsApp announced major upgrades to improve the video calling experience of its users, which will see them have better interactions with crisp video quality.
