WhatsApp’s Multi-Account Feature Is Finally Coming to iPhones
With this update, managing work and personal accounts, or even multiple businesses, is about to become effortless.
For years, iPhone users watched enviously as Android users juggled two WhatsApp accounts on one phone without breaking a sweat. Work and personal life? Separate. Multiple businesses? Seamlessly managed.
If you're an iPhone user, that’s all about to change. No more getting stuck with clunky workarounds like downloading the WhatsApp Business app or carrying a second phone just to keep things organized.
That's because WhatsApp is finally testing multi-account support for iOS. The feature, spotted in WhatsApp’s TestFlight beta program, promises to simplify life for anyone who’s tired of switching between apps or lugging around multiple devices.
With this update, managing work and personal accounts, or even multiple businesses, is about to become effortless. No more app-cloning tricks or separate apps—everything will be integrated into the main WhatsApp app.
The upcoming multi-account feature offers two ways to set up additional accounts. You can either register a second number as a primary account or scan a QR code to link it as a companion account.
Both methods allow you to keep notifications, chats, backups, and settings distinct for each account while switching between them seamlessly. This new feature will especially be useful for people who use WhatsApp with multiple phone numbers helping them keep all their conversations organized in a single app while maintaining separation between different accounts.
Once fully rolled out, this update will bring WhatsApp more in line with Instagram—another Meta-owned platform—which already allows users to switch between multiple accounts effortlessly.
While it’s not yet available for public testing, its appearance in the beta program signals that the wait might not be much longer. It’s another step toward feature parity between iOS and Android users, even if it took a while to get here.
