Will Samsung reveal the Galaxy S25 Slim at Unpacked? Here’s what we know so far
With Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2025 just hours away, buzz is growing around a possible new addition to the Galaxy S25 lineup—the Galaxy S25 Slim. Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything, but leaks, benchmark results, and insider reports suggest an ultra-thin flagship could be in the works.
Talk of the S25 Slim started picking up when reports suggested Samsung added the model late in development, possibly to get ahead of Apple’s rumoured iPhone 17 Air, an ultra-thin iPhone expected later this year. If true, this wouldn’t be the first time Samsung has tried to beat Apple to the punch with a bold new design.
Now, leaked Geekbench 6 tests are adding more weight to the rumours. According to the benchmark results, the S25 Slim will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite chipset, the same powerhouse found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, there’s a catch—its multi-core scores lag by about 3,000 points, suggesting Samsung may have throttled performance to keep heat under control in a thinner frame. The test also shows 12GB of RAM, a slight step down from the Ultra’s 16GB, but still more than enough for flagship-level performance.
While speculation about the phone’s specs continues, there’s also the question of who will actually get to buy it. Per reports from PhoneArena, the Galaxy S25 Slim will launch in 39 countries, including India, the UK, Nigeria, France, and Australia—but not the U.S.
Samsung hasn’t commented, but this wouldn’t be a first—a similar situation happened with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition, which also skipped the U.S. entirely. Some experts believe it may be because U.S. carriers aren’t too keen on ultra-thin phones, preferring models with bigger batteries and premium features. Others think Samsung is just testing demand globally before going all in.
So, will we actually see the Galaxy S25 Slim at Unpacked? That’s still up in the air. Some reports say Samsung might tease it during the event but save the full launch for May or June. What we do know for sure is that the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are locked in for the event on January 22nd and we'll keep you updated on the launch.
