š¯•¸ Introduces Community Notes Program in India Ahead of its Elections
The Community Notes program is a fact-checking feature that allows people to collaboratively add context to potentially misleading posts.
Social media platform š¯•¸ has introduced its Community Notes program in India to combat misleading posts ahead of the country's Lok Sabha elections scheduled to take place between April 19 and June 1, with results to be declared on June 4.
The Community Notes program is a fact-checking feature that allows people to collaboratively add context to potentially misleading posts. The š¯•¸'s official Community Notes handle has welcomed its first contributors from India and has said that they plan to expand over time as they consistently monitor quality to ensure that notes are found helpful by people from different points of view.
š¯•¸ has described Community Notes as a collaborative way to keep people better informed. The program has contributors in 69 nations around the world, with more to be added in the future.
If you choose to join the Community Notes pilot program, you must ensure that your š¯•¸ handle does not have any rule violations since January 1, 2023, and has been on the platform for at least six months. The eligibility criteria also state that you must have a verified phone number with a trusted phone carrier, and the number should not be associated with other 'Community Notes' accounts.
Once you become a contributor, you will be able to rate notes and, over time, earn the ability to write. With time, your note will be publicly shown on a post once enough contributors from different points of view rate it as helpful.
