X (Twitter) Teases New Video Conference Feature

With subtle showcases and hints here and there, X seems to be working on a new conference call feature.

In a push to become the "everything app", Elon Musk has introduced several features to the X app (formerly known as Twitter). Some of these features like Grok AI have come out of nowhere and made the app a bit more fun (at least for premium subscribers). Now X is teasing another feature, X Conference, to arrive soon.

A post from an X employee, Chris Park showcased the first time this feature was used and, according to him, it is already a strong alternative to other video conference platforms like Zoom, Google Hangouts and even Microsoft Teams.

The feature appears to have a minimalistic design with only the necessary buttons being added to it. Reportedly, the feature will allow you to engage in a video conference call with multiple people with fewer back-and-forth changes on the main panel.

This was not the first time the feature was being spoken of though. Another X user, Nima Owji, had given us an early peek at what this feature looks like. The conference feature also reportedly supports spatial audio.

With the only main sources being teases from X employees and Elon Musk acknowledging things with a fire emoji, there isn't a lot of information about this new feature. We still do not know how many people it supports, if it is just a premium feature or if it will have other features that will make it stand out from other video conferencing apps.

As things are, all we can do is wait for more information from the team. The company already has a really good mass engagement feature, X Space. With that success, maybe this new video conference feature could end up being a real game changer.
