You can now play games on LinkedIn

The first set of games include Wordle-style daily puzzle games.

If you use LinkedIn to find jobs, make professional connections and announce career achievements, here is a new use case – play games.

Why not? People play Candy Crush while at work so it won't hurt to spend some more time on the professional networking platform playing a game or two.

The first set of games coming to LinkedIn after it announced it back in March include Wordle-style daily puzzle games – Queens, Crossclimb, and Pinpoint – as it looks to attract more users and increase engagement. If you are a pro at the Wordle game, these games might be a walk in the park for you as they are quite similar.

But you can only play each of the games once a day, which makes sense so you can be productive. You can invite one of your first-degree connections to play a game with you. You can also share your performance stats with your connections once you opt-in.

With this new feature, LinkedIn joins other social media platforms like Facebook and Snapchat which have made provisions for games on their platforms. Facebook has a section called "Facebook Gaming" while Snapchat offers a variety of casual games that are typically simple and designed for quick play sessions with friends.

I think that these games could establish deeper connections among LinkedIn members and even give people more reasons to engage more with the platform. It would be interesting to see how this would impact LinkedIn's membership which is currently over 1 billion globally, per company data.
