You can now share files from a Windows PC to an Android phone directly

Microsoft has just announced an exciting update for Windows 11 that will soon let you share files directly from your PC to your Android phone with only a few clicks.

With the upcoming update, Windows 11 is adding a “My Phone” shortcut to its share menu. This means you can send files, links, and more to your Android smartphone without relying on email, Bluetooth, cloud storage, or any other third-party apps.

This handy feature builds on Microsoft’s Phone Link app, which you might already be using to sync notifications, messages, and more between your PC and phone.

To get started, you’ll need to pair your Android device with your Windows 11 PC using the Link to Windows app on your phone and the Phone Link app on your PC. Once set up, you will see a “My Phone” icon in the Windows share menu and can easily share files, links, and more across your devices from the Windows share menu, saving you time.

As of now, this feature is rolling out to Windows insiders so if you’re not an Insider, you’ll have to wait a bit longer, but rest assured, it’s on the way.

Keep in mind that this feature might not work perfectly with every app, especially since some apps on Windows have their own unique share menus. However, for those apps that do integrate with Windows 11’s native share menu, this functionality is going to be incredibly useful.
