YouTube Music rolls out Sound Search on Android and iOS
YouTube Music's Sound Search just made finding that catchy tune a whole lot easier.
YouTube Music just rolled out its new Sound Search feature on all platforms for all users, including iOS users, allowing you to identify songs by humming, singing, or playing a snippet without knowing the lyrics. All you need to do is hum, sing, or play a snippet of the song, and it will be found for you.
While the feature is not new to YouTube Music and was introduced for Google search in 2020, and subsequently rolled out briefly to Android users early this year by May, it just rolled out for the first time to iOS users and is now available on all platforms for both Android and iOS users with version 7.10 of YouTube Music.

The Sound Search feature, a semblance of music recognition apps like Shazam, is directly in the YouTube Music app. You do not need third-party applications to find songs you come across, you can find it directly from the YouTube music App.
To use it:
- Simply tap the magnifying glass icon at the top right corner of the app.
- Then click on the new waveform icon next to the microphone.
- From there, hum, sing, or play the song snippet, and YouTube Music will quickly identify it, showing you the song title, artist, and album.
- It will also provide shortcuts to play, save to a playlist, or download for offline listening.
With Sound Search, YouTube Music has redefined music discovery for its over 800 million active users.
